MOTION-LEARNING-SAFETY
- Motion - All On Board provides one-on-one skateboarding and surfing instruction and supervision in ideal learning environments. No skateboarding or surfing experience needed. Conditions permitting, the kids will catch and ride small waves on 'soft-top' surfboards. No waves? They will learn to paddle, sit upon, "duck dive" and come to a standing position on a surfboard. These are the ABC's of surfing. We know where to find the tiniest of waves on any given day and how to best make use of skateparks.

- Learning - Participants will understand terminology and concepts of basic watershed and marine ecosystem processes and develop an appreciation for the natural sciences through instruction, observation, sample and data collection and by getting their hands dirty and feet wet. Nature is the classroom and laboratory. Learning is facilitated by an experienced teacher and outdoorsmen, all of whom have young children of their own.

- Safety - The number of participants is limited to 10 due to: programme intensity, logistics, our desire to devote 100% of our attention to each participant and with respect for other skaters and bathers. For more about Water Safety, see below. Skateboarding does not come without a few bumps, bruises and scrapes. We will make sure that they are iced or kept clean and bandaged if necessary. Helmets are required. Knee, elbow and wrist padding highly recommended.

Participants must be able to actively swim both above and under water.
We will meet at Svanemøllen Strand to verify ability - a swim test - and provide more details and answers about the camp.
When:
Friday June 12 (17.00-18.00), Friday June 19 (17.00-18.00) and Saturday, June 20 (10.00-11.00). Adults and kids will find out more about the camp, try Stand-Up Paddling on a 'soft-top' SUP board, and get to paddle around on a few of our other wave craft. The meeting is free and there is no obligation to continue with the camp.
Where:
Meet at the pier in front of bathrooms/cafe, next to the sandy beach. Simply let us know when you will be coming and with how many children. Due to the short duration of our swim test, wetsuits are not necessary and only a few will be available on these days.

Wetsuits will be available for the camp. However, we see the camp as the beginning of a commitment and strongly encourage you to consider buying a wetsuit for your child. Having a wetsuit, especially in Denmark, is a great way of maximizing comfort and thereby desire, reducing exposure to the sun and increasing interactivity with the sea. For the time being, a new 3/2 mm summer wetsuit may be purchased for only 500 kroner - a great deal! Alternatively, we are ready to find the right size for your children and place a larger order. Great 5/4/3 mm or 4/3 mm wetsuits that will last into the fall season, and most likely work for next year as well, may be purchased for between 600-900 kroner.

- Skateboard - 3-4 hours of skateboarding and instruction a day at Fælledparken skate park in Copenhagen, Multiparken in Helsingør and on a small "mini-ramp" next to Svanemøllen Strand.
- Swim-Snorkel - Post skateboarding swims and snorkeling by the pier and rocks at Svanemøllen Strand. This will contribute to water safety and allow us to introduce the marine ecosystem and watershed concepts. Snorkeling over the shallow water stone reefs of North Sjælland will put participants into direct contact with the underwater ecosystem.
- Surf - Board handling, safety and basic techniques will be covered and practiced at Svanemøllen Strand, Østerbro. This will be followed by two days of one-on-one instruction and play in small, shallow water waves, using "soft top" surfboards, at the given day's best suited North Sjælland location. Our experience and coastal knowledge ensures that if there is a chance to surf, we will make use of it, without putting your children into a situation where current and/or water depth might be a problem. While learning, they will always be able to stand up and walk on a sandy sea floor.
- Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems - A taste of physical oceanography, marine/freshwater ecosystems, plus watershed ecology. Includes a visit to Øresundsakvariet in Helsingør, snorkeling and a 2-3 hour tour of the little wonder of Pandehave Å located just east of Dronningmølle. The Pandehave Å outing will be an opportunity to enjoy, record and study the watershed/stream ecosystem and its relation to the nearby sea. And finally, whether snorkeling or from the comfort of the boards, kids will get to explore the 0.5-2 metre deep rock reefs (stenrev) of Munkerup-Dronningmølle-Hornbæk coastline (depending on wind conditions and visibility).
- Language - All On Board is also a semi-immersion language programme. English will be built up, step-by-step, throughout camp activities and in casual conversation. As such, language instruction will be contextual and hopefully, meaningful. However, we do speak and will supplement in Danish when needed.
